i appreciate this geoff...it makes me think of one of those underlying themes in scripture, and especially seen in Jesus - being and doing. wimber used to call Him the Word Worker. Word&Deed. sometimes we get unbalanced or lose our way and need to sow more into one or the other...

embrace "being", because leadership and discipleship are primarily about who we are/who we are becoming...then also about what we do to help other people with who they are/who they are becoming...we seek, like paul, to attain to the resurrection: so the thing that lasts is the kind of people we become...

Interesting that you use the term "Just Christians"....I would have thought that's what you were when you were youth leaders.

Can't disagree with you there - probably not the best choice of wording. But in some ways it's been important to be able to sort out what really is "just Christianity", seperate from the identity of a leader.
